Canada is ready to fight against Russia in the Arctic

Canada is concerned that Russia is stepping up its military capabilities in the Arctic and is ready to defend its interests with arms in their hands. This was stated by Foreign Minister John Baird in Canada in an interview with the Danish newspaper Berlingske. According to Baird, Ottawa "is going to come to the defense of its sovereignty in the Arctic, and, if necessary, use force."

The minister said he would prefer to solve the problem peacefully, because they do not believe that there is a new Cold War. However, Canada believes that Russia is not going to negotiate. Russia and Canada both have claims to extend its shelf due to the underwater Lomonosov Ridge.
